“No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride…and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well…maybe chalk it up to forced consciousness expansion: Tune in, freak out, get beaten.”
Hunter S Thompson
Sarah and David would like to welcome you to Owl Farm, located at Charleys Forest, 35.39S 149.99E and 650 metres above sea level. It is an easy drive on sealed and well-maintained unsealed roads 20 minutes east of the heritage-listed town of Braidwood in the Southern Tablelands.
Owl Farm is 44 hectares (110 acres) of prime basalt grazing country with good infrastructure. The house is a generous brick residence with plenty of room and a wide verandah wraps around the whole house. There are exceptional views across the paddocks and east to the Budawang Ranges.
The property was formerly part of the Coolong cattle stud and has been extensively developed with improved pastures including clover and rye grass. Carrying capacity is given as 10 DSE/hectare or able to carry 40-60 cattle under rotational grazing.
The annual rainfall is 875mm and the property has three spring fed dams and a small creek. Water tanks also serve pastured stock through a reticulated trough system.
There are pockets of gum trees and Leylandii pine trees defining the driveway and a windbreak to the northwest of the land. The gardens are well maintained and established with mature trees, lawns and garden beds.
We have a herd of 30 Angus, Hereford and Angus-Hereford cross cattle, 20 Wiltshire Horn sheep and grow garlic, vegetables and flowers….Plenty of fun to be had!!
